January 2026 Newsletter
Happy New Year to our incredible CrossFit Fort Pierce family! As we step into a new year, we want to thank each of you for the energy, grit, and support you bring to the gym every day. This past year was filled with hard work, personal victories, and shared sweat, and we couldn’t be more proud of this community. Here’s to new goals, stronger lifts, faster times, and showing up for one another both inside and outside the box. Let’s make this year our strongest yet—together! 💪🎉
NEWS & REMINDERS
Sign Up In Advance for Classes
Don’t forget to please sign up for classes early. Early sign-ups help tremendously in allowing our coaches to plan accordingly and make your experience amazing, each and every time.
For our typically smaller classes, please remember that classes can be canceled due to a lack of sign ups. Also remember that our early morning classes will cancel if people are not signed up the evening before.
Clean Habits Build Strong Values
Friendly reminder for everyone to do their part to keep the gym tidy and clean. There are several wipe containers throughout the gym, so please be sure to wipe down equipment and put it back in its place when done. Parents, thank you for doing your part in leaving the club room tidy and clean for the next set of kids. Thank you to all for your efforts in building strong values through clean habits!
Run Club
Join the Run Club every Tuesday at 6pm at Sailfish. You don’t need to be an expert runner! Everyone goes at their own pace down a similar route from Avenue A to the bridge and back. It is a choose your own adventure run/walk, if you’d like to run all three miles, awesome! If you are just starting and want to walk a mile, great! When you're finished, Run Club meets back at Sailfish to grab a beverage for a discount. There is also a punch system depending on how many visits you can get things like free beer, t-shirts, and more.
Toy Drive
Thank you to everyone who donated to last month’s ‘Legit’s Downtown Toy Drive.’ It was a huge success with our gym’s donation box overflowing with toys.

CONGRATULATIONS!
To our very own Johnny Sowers, coach Claudia Filla, coach Caydee Dupre, and coach Macki Fadness for completing the 2025 Ironman Florida in Panama City Beach this past November 1st, 2025. What a remarkable feat!!! Thank you for making our CrossFit Fort Pierce community proud and for being examples of epic grit, tenacity, and persistence. You are an inspiration to all of us!
WE ARE CROSSFIT FORT PIERCE
InBody | BODY COMPOSITION SCALE
Did you know that we have our very own InBody Body Composition Scale at the gym, free to use for all members. That’s right! It’s a really cool machine that quickly measure fat mass, muscle mass, and body water. It’s super user-friendly and non-invasive. You simply follow the step-by-step directions on it, and before you know it, you’re getting a detailed analysis print-out. Don’t want the paperwork? Then download the app and the results are automatically sent to and saved there, keeping a detailed history of your progress and achievements. It even has features to help you achieve your goals, like their macro calculations that can guide you on what and/or how much to eat depending on your fitness goal. Give it a try!! You can find it at the back of the gym next to the water cooler. Here’s a link to the company’s website where you can learn more about all of the features that are readily accessible to you, our CFFP member!
SUPPORT OUR OWN
We are excited to continue highlighting our amazing local businesses owned by our very own members! By supporting these businesses, you’re not only helping fellow gym members thrive, but also strengthening our entire community. We encourage you to visit their websites by clicking on the respective logo below.
*If you own or are a part of a local business and would like to be included, please email info@crossfitfortpierce.com and be sure to include the logo. Thank you!
LIFE CLASS MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
Pam Blandford
Pam is 68 years old and is a longtime Fort Pierce resident who retired in 2015 after a 34-year career as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service. She worked primarily as a Bulk Mail Clerk handling large mailings such as utility bills, nonprofit newsletters, and political mail, while also serving as a Window and Mail Processing Clerk. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Pam moved to Crystal River, Florida at the age of two and then to Fort Pierce in 1962, where she grew up and raised her two children, Joey and Laurie, with her husband Larry, who passed away in 2025.
Pam was introduced to CrossFit through her son Joey, who invited her to a Fort Pierce CrossFit “Bring Family & Friends” workout and told her about the LIFE class that Tony was starting. She immediately connected with the program and became one of the original LIFE members when the class launched in November 2019. Pam appreciates having her workouts scaled appropriately and especially enjoys balance work, sit-ups, and core movements, which help keep her back strong after many years of lifting heavy mail trays, parcels, and bags.
CrossFit has had a powerful impact on Pam’s daily life. She applies what she learns in the gym to everyday tasks such as gardening, cleaning, carrying groceries, lifting heavy bags of salt, and loading water jugs, using proper squatting and deadlifting techniques to protect her body. One of her main goals is to remain physically capable of living independently, and she values how the coaches respect the physical limitations that come with aging. Pam takes pride in simply showing up to class and giving her best effort without cutting corners.
Athlete of the Month
Gift Mitrananda
Kicking off the New Year with a spotlight on one of our awesome members! At 33, this Thailand-born engineer first came to CrossFit to get in shape for a ski trip ⛷️—and has been crushing goals ever since. From mastering the snatch to powering up their favorite lift, the power clean, it’s been amazing to watch the steady improvements in strength and technique (and not getting winded on beach walks anymore 😂). Currently working on kipping toes-to-bar and always down for a bench and power clean WOD, they bring great energy to every class. We love having you as part of our super friendly community, and we’re excited to see what this year brings—especially if there’s pizza 🍕 after the workout and maybe a fishing reel fix on the side 🎣!
*Each month we spotlight a CFFP athlete who stands out. We are always looking for that athlete that shows up, gives their best, and then gives more. These athletes are ready to learn, ready to work, support their fellow classmates, and encourage others to reach their goals. If you have someone in mind, please email your suggestions to info@ crossfitfortpierce.com or you can DM our instagram page. Please make sure to share why you think this athlete is deserving.

JANUARY FITNESS CHALLENGE
10k Steps Per Day Challenge
Getting 10,000 steps per day is a simple, approachable way to boost overall health. Regular walking helps improve cardiovascular fitness, supports weight management, strengthens joints and bones, and can improve mood, energy levels, and sleep. It also encourages daily movement outside of workouts, which is great for recovery and long-term consistency. While 10,000 isn’t a magic number, it’s a motivating target that helps many people stay active throughout the day.
You don’t need an Apple Watch to track your steps either. Many smartphones automatically count steps using built-in health apps like Apple Health or Google Fit when you carry your phone. You can also use an inexpensive clip-on pedometer, which tracks steps without needing internet or apps. Fitness apps that use GPS can estimate steps based on walking distance, and treadmills often display step counts as well. Even estimating steps from distance (roughly 2,000 steps per mile for most people) can be an effective, low-tech option.
