NEWS & REMINDERS

Sign Up In Advance for Classes

Don’t forget to please sign up for classes early. Early sign-ups help tremendously in allowing our coaches to plan accordingly and make your experience amazing, each and every time.

For our typically smaller classes, please remember that classes can be canceled due to a lack of sign ups. Also remember that our early morning classes will cancel if people are not signed up the evening before.

Clean Habits Build Strong Values

Friendly reminder for everyone to do their part to keep the gym tidy and clean. There are several wipe containers throughout the gym, so please be sure to wipe down equipment and put it back in its place when done. Parents, thank you for doing your part in leaving the club room tidy and clean for the next set of kids. Thank you to all for your efforts in building strong values through clean habits!

Run Club

Join the Run Club every Tuesday at 6pm at Sailfish. You don’t need to be an expert runner! Everyone goes at their own pace down a similar route from Avenue A to the bridge and back. It is a choose your own adventure run/walk, if you’d like to run all three miles, awesome! If you are just starting and want to walk a mile, great! When you're finished, Run Club meets back at Sailfish to grab a beverage for a discount. There is also a punch system depending on how many visits you can get things like free beer, t-shirts, and more.

The 2026 CrossFit Open is a three-week, three-workout competition running from February 26 to March 16, 2026, serving as the start of the 2026 Games season.

For most of us, it’s a chance to harness the collective energy from athletes all the around the world taking on the same workout and to challenge ourselves in ways we might not otherwise. If you’re new to the CrossFit Open, just ask any of our coaches or members that have been around for a while. It’s a lot of fun!

We will also be having our annual In-House Open as a way to accompany the worldwide competition and make it fun and a great community event for our members! More info below in the next section. For now, here is what you need to know about CrossFit Open 2026:

WE ARE CROSSFIT FORT PIERCE

InBody | BODY COMPOSITION SCALE

Did you know that we have our very own InBody Body Composition Scale at the gym, free to use for all members. That’s right! It’s a really cool machine that quickly measure fat mass, muscle mass, and body water. It’s super user-friendly and non-invasive. You simply follow the step-by-step directions on it, and before you know it, you’re getting a detailed analysis print-out. Don’t want the paperwork? Then download the app and the results are automatically sent to and saved there, keeping a detailed history of your progress and achievements. It even has features to help you achieve your goals, like their macro calculations that can guide you on what and/or how much to eat depending on your fitness goal. Give it a try!! You can find it at the back of the gym next to the water cooler. Here’s a link to the company’s website where you can learn more about all of the features that are readily accessible to you, our CFFP member!

LIFE CLASS MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

Leslie Crawford

Leslie Crawford, 77, brings an inspiring energy to our gym community. Originally from Washington, DC, Leslie previously worked in mortgage banking, the Chamber of Commerce, and with Xerox before finding her way to CrossFit through her niece, Joy Yancy. Joy encouraged her to try the new Life Class, and Leslie says she is so glad she did. She especially enjoys upper-body and core work, while continuing to focus on improving her lower-body strength. Outside the gym, CrossFit has made her more aware of just how important it is to keep moving and staying active. One of her proudest accomplishments so far is learning to jump rope — something she couldn’t do just six months ago but now celebrates with enthusiasm. What she loves most about the gym is meeting so many kind people who truly care about one another’s wellbeing, along with coaches who are always willing to help. Leslie is motivated by her desire to keep getting stronger for as long as she can, and if she could design her own workout, it would definitely include upper-body and core exercises. Her go-to post-workout treat is a simple bowl of oatmeal. A fun fact many people may not know is that when her great-nephew Zac was a baby, he nicknamed her “TeTe,” and now everyone affectionately calls her TeTe or Aunt Leslie — a title she absolutely loves.

Athlete of the Month

Melissa McWhorter

Melissa McWhorter, 48, is a dedicated athlete, wife to Jeremy, and mom of three — Faye, Mary, and Jason, all of whom plan to return to CrossFit this summer. After a 10-year break, Melissa came back to CrossFit with one clear goal: to keep up with her kids. Her favorite movements are cleans and thrusters, while double-unders and pull-ups remain works in progress. Since returning, she’s noticed meaningful changes in her life — eating better, feeling better, and saying “yes” to activities she once avoided because she worried about keeping up or getting injured. Rather than pointing to one single proud moment, Melissa says she feels proud every time she shows up, especially when the WOD includes burpees, snatches, or intimidating lifts. What keeps her coming back is the community; no matter the class, the people around her, or where her fitness level falls, she always feels supported, encouraged, and pushed to achieve more than she thought possible. She consistently leaves the gym happier than when she arrived and continues to show up because CrossFit benefits her both physically and mentally — even helping her return to pickleball and other sports with her kids. Her dream WOD would include walking lunges, V-ups, and cleans, and while she aims to keep post-workout meals healthy, sometimes Chipotle wins out. Melissa is especially happy that her family is now working out alongside her and loves being part of a gym that has become such a positive place for them all.

*Each month we spotlight a CFFP athlete who stands out. We are always looking for that athlete that shows up, gives their best, and then gives more. These athletes are ready to learn, ready to work, support their fellow classmates, and encourage others to reach their goals. If you have someone in mind, please email your suggestions to info@ crossfitfortpierce.com or you can DM our instagram page. Please make sure to share why you think this athlete is deserving.
