WE ARE CROSSFIT FORT PIERCE
DID YOU KNOW THAT…
We have our very own InBody Body Composition Scale at the gym, free to use for all members. That’s right! It’s a really cool machine that quickly measure fat mass, muscle mass, and body water. It’s super user-friendly and non-invasive. You simply follow the step-by-step directions on it, and before you know it, you’re getting a detailed analysis print-out. Don’t want the paperwork? Then download the app and the results are automatically sent to and saved there, keeping a detailed history of your progress and achievements. It even has features to help you achieve your goals, like their macro calculations that can guide you on what and/or how much to eat depending on your fitness goal. Give it a try!! You can find it at the back of the gym next to the water cooler. Here’s a link to the company’s website where you can learn more about all of the features that are readily accessible to you, our CFFP member!
LIFE CLASS MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
Barbara Lindke
Congratulations to our Life Member Spotlight, Barbara Lindke! At 68 years old, Barbara continues to inspire everyone around her with her positivity, determination, and adventurous spirit. After retiring 5½ years ago following more than 40 years in aviation — including over 31 years as an Aircraft Dispatcher for FedEx in Memphis — Barbara knew she wanted to continue prioritizing fitness and community in her life. She first discovered functional fitness at age 56 through IronTribe in Memphis, despite never having lifted weights before, and instantly knew she had found where she belonged. Since joining the LIFE classes at CFFP, she has embraced workouts designed to support healthy aging while enjoying the camaraderie and encouragement of the community she now considers family.
Barbara’s favorite movement is the deadlift, a lift she connected with immediately as a beginner and one she still excels at today, with a personal record of 205 pounds in Memphis. She is currently focused on improving farmers carries and grip strength, especially important as she manages osteoarthritis in her hands. CrossFit has helped Barbara stay physically and mentally strong, giving her the ability to continue doing the things she loves most — including walking 2–5 miles on the beach each sunrise with her rescue dog, Eloise, while collecting trash washed ashore. Recently, she even carried a 10-pound NOAA weather balloon and debris 1.5 miles home, something she credits to the strength and skills she’s built at CFFP.
Barbara says some of her proudest moments are simply showing up, trying things even when they feel difficult, and watching her fellow LIFE athletes challenge themselves alongside her. She treasures the incredible community at CFFP, describing it as a place filled with caring coaches, classmates, and friends who make every class enjoyable. Her motivation to keep coming back is simple: she genuinely loves being around everyone — and she also enjoys balancing workouts with good food and cocktails. If she could create her perfect WOD, it would include a gentle warmup, stretching, and plenty of deadlifts with lots of rest in between.
Outside the gym, Barbara’s life is full of incredible accomplishments and hobbies. She has completed the Memphis St. Jude Marathon twice, the half marathon 16 times, multiple triathlons, and even celebrated turning 60 by completing at least one half marathon every month for a year, along with several marathons, two 25-mile races, and a 30K trail run. She’s also an avid cyclist, basket weaver, and reader who highly recommends the novel Theo of Golden by Allen Levi. Whether she’s riding along the Erie Canal in New York, weaving baskets with friends, or enjoying a Hendrick’s Gin & Tonic after a workout, Barbara lives life to the fullest. Most of all, she says she feels truly blessed and counts everyone at CFFP as part of what makes her life so special.
Athlete of the Month
Farrah Harold
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Month, Farrah Harold! At 41 years old and working as an RN, Farrah joined CrossFit looking for structured workouts and a strong sense of community, and she quickly found both. Her favorite movements are snatches and clean & jerks, while rope climbs are the skill she’s currently focused on improving. Outside the gym, CrossFit has had a huge impact on her life mentally and physically, helping her build confidence and lifelong friendships along the way. One of her proudest accomplishments has been overcoming her dislike of the assault bike and running — while she may not love them yet, she’s learned to embrace the challenge. Farrah says the best part of the gym is the supportive environment where everyone encourages each other to become better than they were yesterday. Her motivation comes from knowing that growth only happens when you stop avoiding difficult things. If she could design her perfect WOD, it would include snatches, clean & jerks, power cleans, and burpees or pistol squats. After a workout, she enjoys an egg omelet, bacon, sweet corn arepa, and a vanilla latte. A fun fact about Farrah: she loves to sing — and proudly says Filipinos love karaoke!

JUNE FITNESS CHALLENGE
50 Sit-Up Challenge (Post-WOD)
Our very own Doris Gaunt enjoys getting to class a few minutes early and getting in her quick daily set of 50 sit-ups. With such inspiration, we are tweaking her idea a bit and challenging everyone to stick around a few
extra minutes AFTER each workout and get in a set of 50 sit ups. Be sure to mark your tally on the challenge board each time you complete a set (one per set of 50 - feel free to hit 100 or 150 if you’re feeling good!).
AbMat sit-ups maximize abdominal engagement through a deeper, safer range of motion. By filling the curve of your lower back, the mat allows your abs to fully stretch at the bottom of the rep while stabilizing your pelvis, resulting in stronger muscle contractions and less strain on your spine.
Key Benefits
Increased Range of Motion: Elevating and supporting your lumbar spine allows your core to stretch further than it would on a flat floor, leading to a much more intense and complete workout.
Lower Back Protection: The contoured design helps maintain a neutral spine and eliminates the unsafe lumbar arch that causes discomfort during standard sit-ups.
Targeted Muscle Isolation: Paired with the "butterfly" leg position (soles of the feet together, knees splayed), the AbMat neutralizes your hip flexors, forcing your core muscles to do the lifting instead of relying on momentum.
Dynamic Core Development: Unlike standard planks or lifts that focus solely on static stabilization, AbMat sit-ups promote dynamic strength, building functional midline capacity.
